I started this new job today, at this PR Company. It was definitely an eventful exciting day, and like they say-Expect the unexpected! So aside from that by chance we met this dude Justin who had these dope ass bags with him, he was only supposed to come in with Mr.Bradshaw as a "visitor" then ended up pitching his whole line "MBarqgo". I am a huge fan of convertible fashion its so innovative and definitely takes someone with an understanding of different materials and mending with different fabrics. Justin had this messenger bag on BUT then I look over and it was a briefcase, then looked over again and it was a backpack! I was thinking like whoa WTF?! He then had this piece called "Toast" where its a holster looking thing but you can store your goods in it while keeping it discreetly hidden under a jacket. He explained, how his business partner realized, that with traveling you gotta keep your goods in a safe place, which in turn came up with this great concept of bags called MBarqgo. They were the coolest 3 dudes ever, real determined and willing to LISTEN for any new ideas! Hopefully we can bag them because we would go crazy with concepts to push this line!!

The idea of a dream state guided the development of the collection in that we imagined a half-sleeping girl, dressing herself in the dark of night and focused on building garments that are neither long or short, made of varying layers. The collection interlaces florals, plaids, embroidery, and prints. We played with transparency and opaqueness in this collection, using a palette with Mexican-American references but without the usual tropes.

By far one of my favorite Ready to Wear Collections for Fall 2010, the layering the colors, everything about it screams chic! Like a lot of other designers she incorporated velvet, beside that there were tweed, and wool. Using Cherry, Olive, Caramel, Gold, and Cinnamon, a fantastic classy color scheme. Thanks Nanette for now being one of my favorite designers for F|W her line is a cross between downtown and uptown that's how I would describe it, its dressy enough for me to rock without feeling like I'm overly dressed up! I guess this is what my style will emerge to after summer =)

Here's footage of her Spring line for MBFW, again, the colors are refreshing and make you feel so sweet and sensual.

There's no McQueen without McQueen

This morning it was announced that the McQueen brand will go on, and his previously scheduled Fall 2010 show will be presented since most pieces were already finished. Now, many are discussing whether or not this was the right decision, since Lee Alexander McQueen is irreplaceable as a person and designer. My question, since he left a few suicide notes (as per the police report) shouldn’t we be looking at those for an answer? He obviously knew what he was doing, he did make the decision to end his life, leaving the fate of his design legacy in the hands of those around him!

What do you guys think?

I am not too happy with this decision honestly how many lines went on to be as amazing and memorable once the great designer has left? I think in respect for McQueen they should lay his line to rest. I originally heard that Gucci was going to discontinue to the line, but I guess other plans were made. He had an amazing run with his little time on earth so it should be that line were we look back on classic innovations he created.

I can definitely put my two cents in with agreement, because as noted his style is "simple and classic" which is how I would describe my style, no I'm not saying I'm the most stylish in L.A either lol. Comfort and Fashion coincide for me, I'm not going to be in a pair of the latest heels just because they are the "latest" fuck that. If I can't wear them longer than 3 hours then, no hablo your product! Hence I don't mind that Louboutins are 6,7, bundles and up because I know that I'll be in those bad boys for the night with a smile plastered! Anywho, yeah Cudi states in his Time Out article his inspirations, “I always took [style tips] from my older brother and sister, who wore simple, classic things. But I still layered a lot, and in high school, I was a young young’un, all Phat Farmed–out, wearing Sean John, Ecko, Rocawear and Akademiks. I felt like I needed to buy what was cool, instead of just wearing comfortable shit. Now I feel like my personality is this character, and when you watch a cartoon show, the characters aren’t changing their outfit every 15 seconds. That’s why I wear the same jeans every day."

I have always like Cudi not because he's weird or what not, but because he's real. He doesn't try to be alll hella extra'd out because of who he is. It is what it is in his case, you either hate it or love it. Too many people feel that once they get money they gotta get boujie or hollywood, man do you be yourself regardless the only thing different is you don't have to pay attention to price tags!

This has really taken me back, for 2 days I wasn't in the best of moods but now I have come around to talk and post about it. Alexander McQueen, definitely one of my favorite designers has come to the end, after the death of his mother the young great designer ended his own. Thursday was the art walk downtown in L.A and SKINGRAFT definitely made an impact with their window display, I had the pleasure of working with them last yr for fashion week, they're great people so it makes it even better!

Over the past couple weeks I been in a bind, not knowing what exactly I wanna do with my hair for the new year! You can only do so much with curly hair, 1. straighten it 2. straighten it, and 3. straighten it lol. For those of you that want curly-ehh, think twice (too much maintaining). So I had to do my homework and these are the trend for 2010, hmmm lookey lookey options I love it!

So, prior I posted the 2010 Forecast, and trust me the fashion forecast's are never off...I remember when I went to do a visit at FIDM like 4 yrs ago and they had the forecast for 2009 and literally seeing everything perfectly in place and not a second later, threw me. Guess somebody's gotta do it, let me tell you though, the classes are no joke! Anyways, with that said..I'm going to add some more things to keep your eye out for the new year.

In 2008-09 all the rage were the headbands, front french braids, braided bands, and on and on. Well now its time to show those lovely locks some love with jewels, flowers, and to die for studded comb pieces. You can even turn old brooches and jewelry into hair pieces (lets see who the first to bank on these in L.A will be)

Leather, Pleather, ahh Whatever. Sometimes you gotta "fake it til you make it" Not the number 1 pick on my list, honestly theres nothing flattering to me about a leather dress. But a bad ass leather cropped moto jacket, thats a different story and a definite must have! I believe EVERYONE should invest in classic pieces and items such as a classic leather jacket goes on the list, with that timeless peacoat.

While 2009 fashion color trends featured a vast array on leather colours, the leather in 2010 will revolve around monochromatic and earthy tones.

Yes, Elise Overland's 2010 collection may feature the likes of teal-green, but such colours are never going to find mass appeal.

Rather, expect to see a big comeback for grey leather, precipitated in part by Rodarte and their grey thigh-high boots. Black is, of course, a safe and unwavering option though if you're after a country-inspired looks opt for tans and browns.

Well apparently Kanye dislikes the creativity of the designers over at Good Wood NYC. He titles the blog post "This is Bogus!! Please dont support the bootleggers" haha it's quite comical if I may say so myself. I can see where he would be upset, but just because its not decked with diamonds and such, doesnt necessarily mean its a bootleg, right? Personally, I like a couple pieces from Good Wood. I seen it a while ago and I thought it was hella creative and innovative, I even posted about it. I will say that maybe it was taken a little too far with creating the "black" Jesus piece as whole, maybe they should have left it alone but hey let them do their thing Yeezy. One day I may step out in the city with my sex and the city style (chic, neat, and some heels) other day's I feel the grunge and throw on a cut off tee jeans and sneaks. Honestly I was lost for words after viewing this clip, I am so proud of Mega for contributing his time and effort to create such a touching piece. All proceeds will go to the SF Tenderloin Project.

The Tenderloin Project is an ongoing artistic endeavor focused on one of San Francisco’s most marginalized neighborhoods, The Tenderloin. Utilizing the interactive mediums of photography and film, we aim to capture a compelling and honest portrait of this diverse community.

With living exhibitions that will travel through San Francisco, Los Angeles and New York the project will be showcased in a variety of outlets, creating access for a range of viewers to see these intimate, yet objective images, and to understand what life is like in the Tenderloin.

The project will culminate in publishing the images in book form, with proceeds from the sales being donated to organizations that promote and give access to art in the Tenderloin. This, we feel, will allow our project to live on for years and generations to come in the form of art within the community.

For anyone that didnt go to this show on Sunday definitely missed out on one of the greatest hip hop shows of all time!! Jay is my absolute favorite rapper so excuse me for being bias, with Wale, NERD, J.Cole all opening for him it was bound to be a high energy amp'd show from the jump!
We had all access so we were chatting it up with Wale, Pharrell, and Lupe. Wale sucks, I hate his personality. Pharrell is definitely a cool dude and Lupe is sooo humble!! Anyway besides all that, Rihanna cam out to show love to perform her new single Bad, off her Rated R album droppin this month.

Jay killllled it performing all his hit singles, from Reasonable Doubt to the BP III. I wass out my seat the whole show, anticipating for Beyonce to come out then it definitely would have been a show worth the $. He of course ended it with Encore which defintely had the crowd going!

On a fashion tip, Wale talks so much about how hes LV'd out and sooo fresh! WOMP he looked like a regular dude I guess he shows no love to LA. Pharrell all BBC'd out, looking good as usual!
The crowd was dipped in The Hundreds, Black Scale, total street wear I was definitely glad to see that! Unusually there wasn't that much Crooks on the kids backs!

Personally, I dont wear MAC as an everyday make up just because its too thick and costume but for Halloween you definitely will find me at the counter! Just in time to make the cut for Music Monday, otherwise I would've had to make up something like Tune in Tuesday! I run a fashion blog but of course like we all know music and fashion always coincide, I listen to instrumentals when I work it just eases the mind at all means.
This monday I want to tune in to shine a little or should I say BIGGER light on a friend of mine, Carter. From his past mixtape I was automatically hooked, his upbeat, country slangin sound is a complete formula for some feel good music! He now has a new mixtape properly titled "Legal Trappin" it's 11 songs with dope ass bob ya head beats, that kinda distract you from what he's really spittin about! In a nutshell he's a country boy telling a tale about his life on the mic, girls, and everyday in the streets of LA. A dose of imagery for you to draw your own picture of what he's tellin as well. I would say this mixtape is a little slower than the previous one and on some more heart felt real stuff. He went a different direction from his freshman mixtape, he gives the audience a chance to really get to know who Carter really is. For example there's a track called SDF which is the motto stapled to his name (Stay Down Forever) which personally is one of the realest songs on the whole album "Eat good, Drink good, smoke better. Winter spring summer fall, the hoes try to get us" only exudes a determined mindset for success and no road blocks will stop him, only make him stronger.

Los Angeles unLAced Event was held this past Saturday, July 18th. There were so many different people I was glad to see all the people that came out to support a friends event. Versatility was one of the key's that led to the success of this event, with different street wear lines that set up booths, to different faces walking around with hot exclusive kicks, to the environment full of sneaker heads. This was a BUY/SELL/TRADE sneaker convention so if you had some hot Nikes, J's, or any sneaker thats been out for a while just piling up in your closet then this definitely was the place to be dusting the closet out. I had a couple pairs of sneaks that I didn't get a chance to get rid of while I was just absorbing the excitement and madness going on all around me!
